Cultiver. In the beverage industry, orange peels are disposed of at a massive rate. This by-product generated from the process of fruit juice extraction is innately pliable and durable, thus presenting itself as a great leather alternative for handbag making.
After four stages, dehydration, cutting, assembling and stitching, the orange peels are preserved and darkened in colour. These pieces are trimmed to exact dimensions and connected strategically (herringbone pattern joint against vertical patterns) to ensure strength and durability.
Finally, these resulting sheets of orange material are stitched together with traditional leather sewing techniques to form a unique handbag.
